Extended Day Program

Extended Day Program

The Extended Day Program is a service for working parents and follows the same schedule as our school calendar. We are located in the school's east wing, in Rooms 19-21.

If your child needs to attend the Extended Day Program and is not regularly scheduled, please call the school office at 847-966-3266. The school office will let the Extended Day staff know to expect your child.

If you need to reach the Extended Day Room directly before or after school hours, please call (847) 966-0879.

  • The Before School Session runs from 6:30 a.m. until 8:05 a.m.
  • The After School Session on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday runs from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm. On Tuesdays, the After School Session runs from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
  • When school is in session for a half-day, the program begins at noon.

** An emergency form must be on file in the Extended Day room for each child **

The Extended Day calendars are accepted on a first-come basis beginning on Organization Day in August. Calendars with payment will hold your child's place; a filled-out emergency form does not guarantee a permanent place in the program. When the program is filled to capacity a notice will be placed in the school newsletter.

The program is structured to accommodate children of all ages. The After School Session follows a general daily schedule.

  • Play Time – The children go outside, weather permitting, otherwise to the gym. This gives them time to unwind. There is a variety of equipment to play with.
  • Snack Time – We provide a variety of juices and snacks such as cookies, popcorn, pretzels, etc., and special treats for the holidays. On half days, you need to send a lunch, including a drink.
  • Homework Room – There is a separate room for the children to work on their homework. We feel it is important to encourage the children to get as much done as possible.
  • Activity Time – There are various activities available to the children. Our supervisors are eager to work with them as they read, color, draw, or plan a craft project. We also have many games for the children's use.
  • DVD Player/VCR – There is a DVD Player/VCR for the occasional movie.

Together we can provide a happy and safe environment for all the children. We hope your children will come and enjoy our program. For additional information, contact SJB school.
